History
On the 11th September, 1841, Msgr.Carew laid the foundation stone of
St.Thomas’ Church. It was blessed on the 5th May 1842, Ascension day
and officially opened to the public on the 8th September 1842. It is the
second parish established by Mgr.Carew in the City of Kolkata in 1844.
In 1991, a five storyed building was constructed on the Presbytery
grounds to house Vianney Home and the Provincialate of the Society of
Jesus.
